New York Medical Marijuana Laws – Where to Buy Medical Marijuana
A medical marijuana patient can legally purchase cannabis products at a dispensary in New York if they have a valid medical marijuana card and ID. A state-approved dispensary will sell the cannabis in a variety of forms, including tinctures and oils, edibles, and vape cartridges. In some cases, patients can also obtain seeds or plants to grow their own cannabis for home use.
To qualify for a medical marijuana recommendation, patients must have a chronic or debilitating medical condition, such as AIDS, Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, hepatitis C, PTSD, glaucoma, Parkinson’s disease, spinal cord injury with spasticity, or other conditions. A patient must have a bona fide provider-patient relationship with their healthcare practitioner, and the health care practitioner must approve the use of marijuana for treatment of the medical condition.
A qualified patient may designate one caregiver who is authorized to cultivate, possess and administer marijuana on behalf of the patient. If the patient wishes to change their designated caregiver, they must submit a new Authorization for Medical Marijuana Form (Word) to their healthcare practitioner. Caregivers must be entered into the database before they can purchase, grow or possess any marijuana.
Under the new law, patients who are enrolled can buy marijuana at registered dispensaries across New York. However, not all registered organizations sell the same types of medical marijuana and you should contact them to learn more about their products and services. Additionally, some registered organizations offer delivery services, so be sure to check with them for details about delivery areas and fees. buy medical marijuana
